Most 0805 red LEDs sit around 620–630nm, which is fine indoors but disappears the moment you put it behind a colored lens or take it outside. Our deep red is held at 650–670nm - it reads as red through amber and orange diffusers, and it doesn't wash out in direct sun. The plain version is just a standard AlInGaP chip in a 2.0×1.25mm SMD body: no IC, steady light, you control it with a resistor. The flashing version has a driver IC built into the same 0805 package, so it blinks on its own - no microcontroller, no 555, no extra board space.

A note on the flashing build: the IC changes the forward voltage, so your existing 20mA resistor won't necessarily give you 20mA. We spec VF as a range (~2.6–3.4V typical) and tighten it per bin on request. Flash rate in the table is around 1.5Hz as a reference - if you need it locked for a regulated product, say so up front; for toys and consumer gear the standard spread is fine. Also, the flash mode is single blink by default; slow, fast, and double are available, but they're not something you switch in software - it's set by the IC inside.
