Engineering Notes for Bottom-Emitting RGB Integration
When transitioning from standard top-view to reverse-mount 3528s, pay close attention to the PCB cutout depth. Because the light exits from the underside, a 0.5mm to 1.0mm gap between the PCB and the light guide plate is critical for preventing hotspots. Our water-clear lens is tuned to disperse the R/G/B mix evenly across a 120° arc, making it suitable for single-layer aluminum boards where space prohibits secondary optics.
Why Reverse Mount for RGB?
In conventional top-view SMDs, the epoxy lens captures die light and projects upward. For Reverse Mount 3528, the emitting surface is oriented toward the board.

Q: Can I drive this RGB LED with a single PWM signal?
A: No. Each color channel (R/G/B) requires an independent PWM output from your controller. The Red die (AlInGaP) has a lower forward voltage (1.8~2.6V) than the Green/Blue InGaN dies (2.6~3.4V), so a shared drive will result in Red over-saturation.
Q: Why does my RGB LED show color shift after reflow?
A: Ensure peak temperature does not exceed 260℃ for more than 10 seconds. The InGaN dies are sensitive to thermal shock. If you see chromaticity drift, check your reflow profile's preheat phase (must be 140~160℃ for ≤2 min).
