Q2: Can I drive it with a 3.3V microcontroller?
It's possible, since the logic threshold is around 3.3V. But if you're running long wires, I'd suggest throwing a 330Ω resistor on the data line or using a level shifter to be safe. No one likes random flickering.
Q3: How many can I connect in one go?
In theory, a lot. In practice, I'd stop at 300-500 LEDs per segment. After that, don't forget to inject power (VDD/GND) every meter or so, or the voltage drop will mess up the colors.
