According to Korean media reports, South Korean manufacturer TLi has successfully commercialized the driver IC for Micro LED driver boards. Compared with other driver ICs, TLi can use fewer chips to achieve higher resolution Micro LED displays.


It is reported that TLi is a fabless semiconductor company that mainly designs timers and LED driver ICs (key semiconductor devices for display panels). Last year, the company developed a common cathode driver IC-TL3103UD, which enriched its product portfolio. Compared with common anode, common cathode products can significantly reduce power consumption.


According to TLi, to manufacture Micro LED displays with the same resolution level, display manufacturers need to use 6 LED driver ICs from peer manufacturers, and if they use TLi LED driver ICs, only one is needed, which means that display manufacturers can ensure It has a competitive advantage in the price of the driver board and can also optimize the design of the display. Moreover, due to the simplified circuit design, display manufacturers can also guarantee the reliability of the PCB board.


In addition, under the requirement of high refresh rate, display manufacturers use TLi's PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) technology to achieve clear, high-quality images without any distortion. PWM technology can also minimize the long-term electromagnetic interference (EMI) problem of the LED system, and can also prevent the screen flicker problem or the surrounding LED interference phenomenon.


Currently, TLi is supplying TL3103UD samples to Korean Micro LED display manufacturers and LED module manufacturers, as well as Chinese manufacturers. The company plans to start mass production as early as the second half of this year, and expects that the Micro LED display equipped with its driver IC will be released next year.
