On February 23, the national key research and development plan "National Quality infrastructure system" key special "Mini/Micro LED direct display screen Ultra HD display NQI key technology integration application demonstration" kick-off meeting and implementation plan discussion meeting was held in Xiamen.
According to the introduction, in recent years, the display industry is developing rapidly, and the new display technology is developing towards the direction of ultra-high definition, high brightness and high contrast. Among them, as a new generation of information technology, Mini/Micro LED display in brightness, contrast, color gamut, response time, scalability and other performance, the ultra HD Mini/Micro LED display combined with 8K+5G technology has become a development trend.
However, the development of Mini/Micro LED ultra HD display industry is restricted by the imperfect quality infrastructure system in relevant countries, such as the lack of detection methods and instruments, incomplete integrated metering system, and lagging detection and evaluation standards. Relevant data show that in 2021, the annual output value of China's LED display has exceeded 65 billion yuan, accounting for 80% of the world, but the Mini/Micro LED direct display is only 1.55 billion yuan.
For this reason, the national key research and development plan "National Quality Infrastructure System" is a key project launched this time, aiming to break through the technical bottlenecks of "poor calibration", "poor measurement" and "inaccurate judgment" faced by the future display industry all over the world. Starting from the chip decay mechanism, we will make every effort to develop intelligent high-precision measurement and calibration instruments, and combine the integrated measurement technology and the research of detection and evaluation standard system. To solve the accuracy and consistency of test results of the whole chain of production process.
In addition, set up the "Mini/Micro LED Ultra HD display NQI integrated application online demonstration platform", innovative online and offline NQI key technology integration application demonstration new model of sustainable development, to help realize the revolutionary development of a new generation of display industry, for our country from "display power" to "display power" transformation to provide quality and technical assurance.
Led by Xiamen Municipal Quality Inspection Institute, the project is jointly undertaken by 8 institutions, including China National Institute of Metrology Sciences, China Institute of Standardization, Xiamen University, Rayman Optoelectronics, Special Instrument Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, Shenzhen Lighting and Display Engineering Industry Association, and Jiageng Innovation Laboratory. There are 5 sub-projects with a total expenditure of 13.8 million yuan.
Among them, Xiamen Municipal Quality Inspection Institute LED, special instrument Technology and Xiamen University jointly undertake the project topic I: Mini/Micro LED direct display screen ultra high-definition display intelligent high-precision testing instrument development. The research and implementation of this project will break through the bottleneck of the lack of intelligent high-precision testing instruments in the future display industry and promote the revolutionary development of the new generation of display industry.
In the next step, the project team will go all out to carry out scientific and technological research, break through the technical bottleneck of the future display industry, carry out NQI systematic integration and application demonstration, and carry out demonstration application in more than 10 enterprises according to the expert argumentation opinions. Through the research and development of project technology and the promotion of industrialization, the new output value of Mini/Micro LED integrated package direct display screen exceeds 5 billion yuan.
